Panglao Island, Bohol, May 11, 2017 — No matter how many new and contemporary restaurants pop-up around town with unheard of and completely alien dishes that pulls us mere consumers due to its novelty, we always find ourselves going back to the familiar taste of our comfort foods.
BE Grand Resort, Bohol in Panglao completely redefines the direction of their all-day dining, The Food Hall, to take you through a culinary journey of familiar cuisine close to our hearts.
The new menu has given a new platform whereby you will be able to sample the authentic and contemporary Filipino and Chinese dishes to a new level in our Asian Bistro at The Food Hall.
The innovative menu is concocted by our Executive chefs, Chef Mike and Chef Clifford. Chef Mike, is well versed in provincial cuisine and is on a mission to elevate Filipino food to new audiences. Chef Clifford, the Sous Chef whose speciality is Chinese food, serves a bevy of Chinese-inspired dishes with a twist to traditional recipes.
The aim is to bring these flavours, served with simple presentations, to a restaurant audience. “I want to level up comfort food because it’s really everyone’s kind of food. Though simple; many dishes have several layers of complex yet unpretentious flavors, making it hard to stop at a few bites,” Chef Mike explains. His signature dish, Bohol Seafood Bouillabaisse, embodies this exact definition of simple comfort food with layers of unpretentious flavours. Fresh local seafood is complimented by Chef Mike’s own recipe of “bagoong” or shrimp paste.
Renowned food writers from Luzon and Visayas were invited to try first-hand Bohol’s newest Asian Bistro at BE Grand’s media on May 11th. Among the invited were Angeli de Rivera of Appetite Magazine, Atty. Julius Neri of Sunstar Cebu, and Peter Dejaresco of Bohol Chronicles.
“Food doesn’t have to be complicated. When you layer on flavours and the dish tastes good, then the Chef succeeded but if not, then it’s a mess. But good food, even if done in the simplest way is great because you get to experience the sincerity of the dish and the one who made it.” -Angeli de Rivera, Deputy Managing Editor of Appetite Magazine
If anything, The Food Hall, the Asian Bistro will look to give Filipino and Chinese food a new market to please.
