Apart from being the Queen City of the South, Cebu is widely known for its tasty lechon. In fact, it has become a popular gastronomic treat in the city that both locals and tourists have relished every now and then.
With the influx of tourists in the city, Mactan Alfresco of Mactan Newtown is offering a different level of “lechon experience.” Thus, a lechon pit is open so tourists (in particular) will get to see how it is prepared, seasoned and roasted.
The pit is capable of roasting 12 lechons at the same time. Concessionaires include Cebu Lechon Belly, Ana’s lechon and Ayers Lechon. These names are considered to be the “cream of the crop” in their league.
According to Kevin Tan, Vice President of Megaworld and at the same time also headed Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, they strongly believe in the signature pork dish of the province and that they are certain for a fact that they have the top names of lechon-makers in the pit. This is what motivated Mactan Alfresco to open the pit.
Apart from gratifying the palates, Tan’s office is hoping to bring in more tourists to appreciate this particular Filipino dish and in doing so, will promote this pork dish to many other tourists from around the globe.
For anyone out there who craves for a unique gastronomic experience, feel free to visit Mactan Alfresco in Mactan Newtown (Mactan, Cebu). Take note that live roasting is on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 PM onwards.
Also, Mactan Alfresco aims to promote the Cebuano culture. 11 meticulously picked-out restaurants are one with them in uplifting this culture by showcasing exciting performances of Cebuano tradition and culture on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 6:30 in the evening to 8:30 PM.
Mactan Alfresco does not only please the taste buds but the eyes as well. Not to mention, the “knowledge” you can bring home to. Visit the place now and experience a treat like no other.
